Spots open for Wentworth Marina Striped Bass Tournament for Kids
NEW CASTLE — Spots are open for Sunday's Wentworth Marina Striped Bass Tournament for Kids.
Organizers said the stripers have returned in time for the annual fishing tournament, which starts at sunrise. Registration is limited to 100 anglers, and organizers will likely continue taking registrations through Sunday morning. The winner will take home a trophy; door prizes, including Boston Red Sox tickets, Verizon Wireless Arena concert tickets, electronics and gift certificates.
Anglers will receive a Wentworth Marina beach bag, tournament T-shirt and hat, water bottle, rain poncho and other gear. Lunch is included, along with music by disc jockey Ron Reid and entertainment by jugglers' Association gold medalist Morten Hansen and professional face painters Changing Faces. The competition concludes with a lunch and awards ceremony from noon to 2 p.m.
Anglers must be between 8 and 16 years old; those under age 12 must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Registration is $50 per angler and may be obtained by visiting www.stripertournament.com or calling Wentworth Marina at 433-5050.
This year's event is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and is organized and managed by Little Harbor Charitable Foundation.
